Discover the taste of Colorado with unique native dishes from Denver restaurants such as buffalo burgers or rattlesnake tails. * Buckhorn Exchange-Located at the same rickety premises where it was established over one hundred years ago, this landmark restaurant displays its Colorado Liquor License No. 1 above the 140-year-old bar in the upstairs saloon. Try the rattlesnake tails and make sure to find out what a Rocky Mountain Oyster is before you order it. * The Fort-It's a bit of a trek outside the downtown but it's totally worthwhile. The Fort has a beautiful atmosphere, its owner is a mastermind chef and an eccentric character that you can't miss, and the service is the best in town. The only problem we can see is that vegetarians might have some trouble finding something to eat on the menu. Unless, quail eggs wrapped in buffalo sausage counts as a vegetable. * McCormick's Fish House & Bar-Located in the historic lower downtown McCormick's is another Denver establishment that maintains its 19th century feel. The menu is far from local however (Denver one of the only cities not located along any body of water whatsoever). It's all delicious though. Try the Alaskan salmon, the Maine Lobsters or the Hawaiian Mahi Mahi. * Goodfriends-Located near the Bluebird Theatre and the City Park, this is a local favourite. Make sure to order an award winning margarita. The fare ranges from burgers to steaks to Mexican plates so don't worry about finding something to eat. The fish and chips are particularly nice. Family Friendly * Casa Bonita-If the kids aren't concentrating on the tacos, the puppet shows, high divers, fun house, and video arcade will enthral them. * White Fence Farm-Meals are served family-style, with Mom or Dad doling out the vegetables, but the best part is outside, with the live farm animals and playground. |
